Creating multiple accounts on Instagram is no longer easy. The social media app will now make it difficult for users to receive through its sign-in process without proving sufficient evidence. It has been reported that Instagram will ask some users to submit video selfies showing multiple angles of their faces to verify that they are real people. The report further states that not everyone will go through this difficult sign-in process. It can be targeted only for Suspicious accounts.
Social media consultant Matt Navara posted screenshots of the upcoming Instagram feature and wrote, “Instagram is now using video selfies to verify user identities. Meta promises not to collect biometric data. It is shown in the screenshot that Instagram is asking users to take a video selfie. The Instagram notification said, “We need a short video of you turning your head in different directions. This helps us confirm that you are a real person and verifies your identity.”
According to XDA Developers, Instagram was spotted testing the features last year but could not be rolled out due to technical issues. However, the feature is not getting ready for rollout. Several users across the world have revealed that they were asked to submit a video to verify their existing account.
Demand from users to submit video verification
Another Twitter user named Betty posted a screenshot of Instagram asking him to submit a video verification. Users are being asked to clearly point the cameras towards them and follow the arrows to take a complete picture of their faces. The screenshot also shows a note below that reads, “The video will never appear on Instagram and will be removed within 30 days. It will not use facial recognition or collect biometric data. ,
While you may have trouble recording video selfies, it is actually a good step taken by the social media company to hunt down the creeps and trolls. Some people create multiple accounts under the posts of celebs and influencers just to make lewd comments. With the current changes taking effect, creating multiple accounts may not be that easy.
Instagram has not yet officially announced the new sign-in system, but from the screenshots, it can be ascertained that the company has already rolled out the video selfie system for many users.
