Three Democratic lawmakers are urgent Elon Musk on his social media platform’s “hostile stance” towards impartial analysis efforts after X, previously often called Twitter, sued a nonprofit analysis group that discovered a rise in hate speech after the billionaire’s takeover.

The lawmakers pointed to X’s latest lawsuit towards the Center for Countering Digital Hate, after the nonprofit discovered a rise in hate speech on the platform within the wake of Musk’s takeover. X mentioned that the group did not legally get hold of the information and used it to “falsely claim it had statistical support showing the platform is overwhelmed with harmful content.”
By submitting the lawsuit towards the CCDH, the lawmakers wrote, “X is uniquely resisting” researchers’ efforts to carry social media platforms accountable and conduct assessments within the public curiosity.
