The Cyclone Warning Division of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a severe cyclonic storm ie Cyclone Tauktae is likely to intensify in the country from 16 May to 19 May. The IMD said that severe cyclonic conditions will occur over the next 36 hours over the Lakshadweep Islands and the Arabian Sea. States that are going to face Cyclone Tauktae first include three districts of Kerala and five other districts of Kerala after Lakshadweep.
The districts placed on high alert include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Ernakulam, Kottayam, Alappuzha and Idukki. According to IMD, the intensity of rain is said to increase in the Konkan region of Goa and Maharashtra on Friday and Saturday till Sunday.
