5g Technology
The telecom department had on Tuesday approved the applications of the telecom companies for 5G testing and no company is using Chinese technology in it. Now China has regretted the government’s decision not to allow its companies to participate in the 5G trial in India. “We have seen the relevant notification and express concern and regret over the decision not to allow Chinese telecom companies to participate in 5G trials with Indian telecom service providers in India,” Chinese Embassy spokesman Wang Xiaojian said on Wednesday.
The telecom department has approved the applications of telecom companies like Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea and MTNL to conduct 5G trials in the country but none of them will use the technology of Chinese companies. To this, Wang said, “Keeping Chinese telecom companies out of trial will not only harm their statutory rights and interests but will also hamper reform of the Indian business system which is not right for the innovation and development of the Indian industries concerned.”
4G will get 10 times better speed
According to Telecom Vibhag, 5G technology is capable of giving ten times better download speed than 4G and up to three times better results in spectrum capacity. The list of telecom gear manufacturers approved by the Telecom Department for 5G testing includes indigenously developed technologies of Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung, C-Dot and Reliance Jio. This means that Chinese companies will not be part of the 5G trials.
“The telecom department has given permission to the companies providing telecom service to test the use of 5G technology,” the department said in a statement. This includes Bharti Airtel, Reliance JioinfoCom Limited, Vodafone Idea India Limited and MTNL.
Airtel, Vodafone had proposed to use Chinese technology
Earlier, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone had proposed to test using the technology of Huawei company of China. Later, however, he said in his application that he would not use the technology of any Chinese company in the 5G test. “These telecom service provider companies have tied up with original equipment manufacturers and technology providers such as Ericsson, Nokia, Samsung and C-Dot,” the department said. While Reliance JioinfoCom Limited will do this test using its own 5G technology. ”
The statement said that telecom companies have been allowed to use the experimental spectrum in different bands. This includes the mid-band 3.2 GHz to 3.67 GHz, the millimeter wave band 24.25 GHz to 28.5 GHz, and the sub-GHz band to 700 GHz. The department said, “Telecom operators will also be allowed to use their existing 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2500 MHz spectrum for conducting 5G tests.” The duration of the tests is currently six months. This includes a period of 2 months for the purchase and installation of the equipment. ”
Apart from this, it has been clearly stated in the permission letter that the telecom companies will have to do 5G testing in rural and semi-urban areas including urban areas so that the benefits of 5G technology can be availed not only in cities but across the country.
