There have been several incidents of the OnePlus Nord 2 getting blasted since its launch earlier this year. Explaining the reason, the company said in most of the cases that this error happened from the customer’s end and the product is safe to use.
The explosion of the phone can be the result of many things. While one reason can be the company’s poor quality testing, the customer is responsible for the other reason. Since the incidents of phone battery blasting have become very common these days, we have listed five reasons which can probably lead to the occurrence of such blasts.
Avoid doing these 5 things on your phone
Do not operate phone with bad battery
One of the most common reasons for the battery drain of the phone is a damaged battery. Often when you drop your phone, the battery gets damaged, making it prone to short-circuits, overheating and more. When a battery gets damaged, it swells up in most cases, which can be recognized by looking at the rear panel. If you ever experience battery draining issue then take your phone to a service center immediately.
Always use an official charger
This is one of the most common reasons for battery blast incidents. Brands always suggest customers to use official chargers, but this is often avoided. Charging a phone other than the original charger can always be risky and this is because third-party chargers lack the required specifications for a mobile device. In most cases, cheap and uncertified chargers can overheat the phone and damage the internal parts including the battery. That’s why it is important to always use the official charger to charge your phone.
Do not charge the phone overnight
Charging overnight can also cause the battery of the phone to explode. Most of us have a habit of keeping our mobile phone on charger overnight, it is actually bad for the health of your phone. Charging for a long time can lead to overheating, short-circuit and sometimes even explosion. For this reason, many chips come with an inbuilt capability to stop the automatic power flow when the battery charging level is 100 percent. But there are many phones that do not come with this capability. So do not charge your phone overnight.
Protect phone from direct sunlight or water
Exposure of the phone’s battery to direct sunlight or water can lead to battery explosions. Too much heat can destabilize cells and produce gases such as oxygen and carbon dioxide, which can cause the battery to swell and explode. Therefore it is better not to keep the phone in direct sunlight. Similarly, exposing the phone to water can damage the internal parts including the battery, leading to explosions.
don’t use phone continuously
In most cases, the processor can heat up the phone as a result of multi-tasking and gaming sessions. After such heating issues, the battery can get damaged. To avoid this, OEMs have started adding thermal lock feature, which keeps heating issues under control. So if your phone gets hot during multi-tasking or gaming sessions, then give your phone some rest.
