The benefits removed by Vodafone Idea will be only for outgoing SMS, so users will continue to get OTP and incoming SMS benefits on recharging with these plans.
Vodafone Idea
Earlier this year, there were speculations about tariff hike from telcos. Experts had speculated that telcos may introduce indirect fee hikes to boost Average Revenue Per User (ARPU). Indirect fee hike will mean that the price of the plans will remain the same, however, their benefits will be reduced. Now it seems that telecom companies have started taking steps towards indirect growth.
The recent move by telcos to offer less benefits to users may either prompt users to buy separate SMS packs or transfer them to a higher priced scheme which will offer them all kinds of benefits. However, the removed benefits will be for outgoing SMS only, so users will continue to get OTP and incoming SMS benefits on recharge with the Rs 99 and Rs 109 plans.
“No outgoing SMS” on these plans
Vodafone Idea or Vi has removed outgoing SMS benefits from its two unlimited prepaid recharge plans. Vi’s prepaid plans priced at Rs 99 and Rs 109 no longer offer outgoing SMS, with the telecom company noting “No outgoing SMS” in a banner on its website. This was first reported by Price Baba. The Rs 109 plan offers 1GB data and unlimited calls for 20 days validity while the Rs 99 plan offers the same benefits for 18 days validity.
Jio launched cheap recharge plans
Let us tell you that Jio has recently launched two JioPhone prepaid plans priced at Rs 39 and Rs 69 that provide unlimited calls, data and access to Jio apps. The Rs 39 prepaid plan offers 100 MB high-speed data, unlimited calling and 14 days validity. Thus this plan offers 1400 MB data for 14 days and the speed drops to 64 Kbps once the high-speed data is exhausted. The Rs 69 plan offers 0.5 GB high-speed data per day, truly unlimited calling and 14 days validity. Thus this plan offers 7GB data spread over 14 days and the speed drops to 64 Kbps once the high-speed data is exhausted.
