    Amazon on Friday started shedding “several hundred” jobs in its Alexa division as a part of broader belt-tightening throughout the corporate that is been underway since final yr, the corporate confirmed.

    Daniel Rausch, Amazon’s vice chairman of Alexa and Fire TV, despatched a word to staffers informing them of the job cuts, in accordance with a replica of the memo shared by an Amazon spokesperson.

    “As we continue to invent, we’re shifting some of our efforts to better align with our business priorities, and what we know matters most to customers — which includes maximizing our resources and efforts focused on generative AI,” Rausch wrote within the memo, which was reported earlier by GeekWire. “These shifts are leading us to discontinue some initiatives, which is resulting in several hundred roles being eliminated.”
