Australia’s tour of New Zealand (New Zealand vs Australia Bilateral Series) to be held in the next month, ie March 2022, has been cancelled. In this tour, a 3-match T20I series (NZ vs AUS T20I Series 2022) was to be played between World Champions Australia and New Zealand. According to reports, the cricket boards of both the countries took the decision to cancel this series because no restricted isolation quarantine spots were available for the Australian team in view of COVID.
‘New Zealand Cricket’ and ‘Cricket Australia’ had planned this series on the basis that the government there would organize this series in Napier between 17-20 March (New Zealand vs Australia). The T20I Bilateral Series will ease the border restrictions in time to go ahead.
New Zealand Cricket Board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) David White said that the tour of Australia had to be abandoned in view of the border restrictions.
