St. Jones: West Indies on Saturday announced a 15-man squad led by star all-rounder Stephanie Taylor for the Women’s One Day Cricket World Cup to be held in New Zealand (WI W vs NZ W) from March 4 to April 3. Off-spinner Anissa Mohammed, who is going to play her fifth World Cup, has been made the vice-captain.
Just one wicket away from the milestone of 300 international wickets across formats, Anissa took charge of the side in the final match of the ODI series against South Africa this month when Taylor suffered a concussion. Leg spinner Effie Fletcher, who is returning from maternity leave, has also been included in the squad. The squad includes five young players – spinner Karishma Ramhark, pacer Aaliyah Allene, pacer Cherie Ann Fraser, all-rounder Chinelle Henry and opener Rashda Williams – who will make their debut in the prestigious tournament.
