Rematches are on faucet in Thursday’s MVADA Vocational Bowls.
In the Small School Vocational Bowl, Nashoba Tech hosts South Shore in a rematch of the season opener that Nashoba Tech gained 28-6. In the Large School Vocational Bowl, Monty Tech would like to reverse its 43-36 common season loss to Bay Path.
“Teams get better during the season. South Shore has definitely gotten better and I think we’ve gotten better,” Nashoba Tech coach Danny Kelly mentioned. “They’ve changed some of the things they’ve done, so we have to come out and do what we’ve been doing.”
Much of that’s getting the ball within the fingers of Connor Buchmann. A primary-year starter at operating again, Buchmann ran for 1,300 yards on 120 carries.
“We have to be able to run the play, play strong fundamental football and let Connor do his thing,” Kelly mentioned. “We are glad to be playing at home, we’ll have a good crowd and we’ll have the bagpipes going.”
South Shore coach Matt Doyle agrees with Kelly’s evaluation that Nashoba Tech will see a special workforce than what they encountered earlier.
“We were still trying to find our identity,” Doyle mentioned. “We had a lot of new bodies on both sides of the ball, but a lot of those guys have grown and gotten better. I think they are looking forward to this challenge.”
The backfield is led by quarterback Jared Madden and operating backs Todd Egan and Max Main. Main is likely one of the high gamers from his linebacker place as is Madden within the secondary. Doyle mentioned the defensive unit’s skill to make stops at key instances may decide the result.
“We have to be able to get them off the field,” Doyle mentioned. “In the first game, we struggled to get off the field on defense. Offensively, we moved the ball well but our drives stalled due to penalties and other things.”
In the Large School Vocational Bowl, it was a story of two halves when Monty Tech and Bay Path squared off on the finish of September. Bay Path jumped out to a 28-6 lead, however Monty Tech fought again and went forward 36-35, earlier than Bay Path scored the profitable landing on a Casey Gallagher run.
“There were a lot of strange twists and turns in that game,” mentioned Bay Path coach Cody Giampa. “We know we have to play better than we did in the first game.”
In the common season assembly, Anthony Catino threw for 2 scores and ran for a 3rd. Kaiden Brochu had a landing catch and run, whereas Gallagher scored twice, together with the 2-yarder to win the competition. Linebacker Gabe Espinosa, cornerback Jonathan Nussey and the line of defense might be referred to as upon to attempt to decelerate Monty Tech’s star quarterback Logan Quinn, who ran for 4 touchdowns within the first assembly.
“We have to find a way to stop No. 28 (Quinn),” Giampa mentioned. “He’s an unbelievable athlete and they use him in a lot of different ways. You can’t shut him down, but we need to be able to slow him down.”
Monty Tech head coach Anthony Secino discovered some issues he hopes pays dividends the second time round.
“We have to be able to protect the ball, we turned it over 3-4 times in the first half,” Secino mentioned. “The fact that we were able to come back from a 28-6 and even take a lead showed that we can compete. We are excited to get a second chance, because rarely do you get that.”
Quinn has been the final word twin risk, amassing almost 2,000 yards of whole offense to associate with 32 touchdowns. Fullback Ryan Quinn is simply wanting 1,000 speeding yards.
