hamilton, South Africa vs New Zealand continued their winning streak at the ICC Women’s World Cup 2022 by defeating hosts New Zealand by two wickets in a thrilling league stage match here on Thursday.
Fast bowlers Ayabonga Khaka (3 for 31), Shabnim Ismail (3 for 27) and Marijane Kaap (2 for 44) helped South Africa bundle out New Zealand for 228 runs, whose captain Even Sophie Devine’s 93-run knock could not take her to a big score.

Amelia Kerr (3/50) ended the 88-run partnership by getting Wolvaart out leg before in the 36th over. After this, in his next over, he made Migon du Preez (01) a victim. Luss was dismissed in the 41st over when wicketkeeper Katy Martin caught him.
After which it seemed that South Africa were losing momentum as New Zealand continued to take wickets. But Kaap stuck to one end and hit boundaries when necessary. Earlier, Devine hit 12 fours and a six during his 101 ball innings. Apart from this, he shared 81 runs with Amelia Kerr (42 runs) and 80 runs with Maddie Green (30). But in the 41st over, the hosts lost the last six wickets in just 30 runs after Devine was dismissed by Khaka. And the whole team was bundled out in the 48th over.
The 81-run second wicket partnership between Devine and Amelia looked strong, which ended with Lewis (1 for 48) dismissing Amelia. Lewis dismissed New Zealand’s number three batsman leg before and then veteran batsman Amy Satterthwaite (01) became the victim of the blueprint in the next over.
