The Patriots are re-signing quarterback Will Grier to their follow squad, a supply instructed the Herald.
Grier was lower from the energetic roster Saturday to clear an open spot for offensive deal with Conor McDermott, who began the workforce’s loss final weekend to the Giants. Grier, 28, served because the Patriots’ third-string quarterback from mid-September till his launch. He didn’t see any recreation motion.
Grier’s return follows Mac Jones’ fourth benching this season in New York, and a poor second-half efficiency from backup Bailey Zappe. The three of them break up high reps in follow two weeks in the past, the one time Grier has labored with the starters signal he first joined the workforce. Last week, Grier instructed reporters it was “great,” and he believed he might assist the workforce win.
“I came in at a tough time as far as reps go, so it was good to get some,” Grier stated. “Even the scout-team reps I get once we do scout workforce are good. Just good to play ball. You’ve seen guys across the league like (Vikings quarterback) Josh Dobbs. It’s superior to see what he did, man. At the tip of the day, you’ve simply bought to play ball.
“And (Dobbs)’ obviously a testament to that theory that I believe in wholeheartedly. If I get the opportunity, I’m just going to go play and win.”
Grier had earlier stops with the Panthers, who drafted him within the third spherical of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Cowboys and Bengals.
