One of the all-time great players of the cricket world, Warne died in Thailand on Friday.

Victoria’s Minister of Tourism and Sport Martin Pakula made the announcement on Saturday morning after consulting with Victoria’s Prime Minister Daniel Andrews, MCC Trust President Steve Brax and MCC CEO Stuart Fox.
“We will rename the Great Southern Stand as the SK Warne Stand and we will do so as soon as possible,” Pakula said. Warne took his 700th wicket at the MCG itself. Apart from this, he also scored a hat-trick on this ground. The statue of this veteran is already installed outside the stadium. To pay tribute to Warne, people gathered around his statue and offered flowers, cricket balls, beer, cigarettes etc. there.
Cricket Victoria is also planning to rename a stand at Junction Oval in Warne’s honour.
