The Patriots protection flunked the Lamar Jackson check on Sunday. Next up is Aaron Rodgers.
While it’s uncertain Rodgers will run for over 100 yards, as Jackson did in the course of the 37-26 Ravens win, the reigning NFL MVP will pose extra of a problem along with his arm when the Patriots journey to Green Bay.
Patriots head coach Bill Belichick voiced his admiration for the Packers quarterback on WEEI’s Greg Hill Show Monday, saying he just about does every little thing properly. .
“He’s very smart. A very good athlete. He’s got very good quickness and the ability to avoid and escape guys in the pocket and extend plays,” Belichick stated. “Really no weaknesses with the player at all. Tremendous amount of experience. Game situation, management, and savvy.”
Jackson had 4 landing throws. While the Packers offense has struggled a bit placing up factors (they beat Tampa Bay 14-12 Sunday evening), Rodgers stays harmful.
With Rodgers being 38, it could possibly be the ultimate time Belichick and the Patriots go up towards the Packers legend.
“He’s as good as there is. Glad he’s in the NFC and we haven’t had to face him more than we have. He’s always been a problem,” stated Belichick. “It looks like he’s playing extremely well again — as he always does. So it’ll be a big challenge for us defensively this week.”
Against the Packers, the Patriots may also be with out beginning quarterback Mac Jones, who suffered a reported excessive ankle sprain within the sport.
