Patriots large receivers coach Ross Douglas left the crew over the weekend to take a brand new position on the teaching workers at Syracuse.
Douglas spent the final two seasons working alongside fellow receivers coach Troy Brown, after initially becoming a member of the group as a low-level defensive assistant in 2021. On Tuesday, Brown mirrored on his time with Douglas and defined how he’ll be adjusting shifting ahead.
“It was great working with Ross,” Brown mentioned. “(He was) very knowledgable, knew lots of people, knew loads of stuff about offense and protection. So it was good to have him and be taught that terminology and that sort of stuff and know what (the protection) was pondering on sure stuff. It was good to bounce stuff off of him, and get his enter, as nicely.
“I’m happy for him.”
Brown added Douglas, 29, can be missed across the constructing. As for the way the teaching workers will transfer ahead, the veteran assistant provided solely that everybody on the offensive aspect would put extra on their plate.
“One thing I’ve learned since I played here in New England is (to) always be ready for sudden change,” Brown mentioned. “On the field or in the classroom or in practice or whatever, so it’s nothing I’m not used to. You’ve just got to step up and be able to try to fill his shoes and responsibilities and move on from there.”
Douglas is the second offensive assistant to depart the workers this season, after offensive line coach Adrian Klemm was compelled to step away for health-related causes.
