Whether catching up with pals on Front Street or taking a stroll down St. George’s Street, likelihood is you’ve gotten heard of us clamoring for the looming Div. 4 Super Bowl rematch between Duxbury and Scituate.
It has been two years since Scituate’s Keegan Sullivan sprinted for a game-clinching two-point conversion because the Sailors shocked the Dragons, 14-13. This time round, the Patriot League heavyweights enter their newest Div. 4 duel with two fully completely different squads, each trying to go away their respective stamps on improbable campaigns.
“These kids have not talked about any revenge at all,” stated Duxbury coach Matt Landolfi. “It’s all about focusing on winning the game, and executing at practice so that we can execute on Friday night. Kids are working hard, proud of how hard they’ve been working. We’ve got a tough challenge ahead. This is a different Scituate team with a high-powered offense. Our defense, we’ve got a lot of work to do to get ready for them.”
Each college overcame a considerably gradual begin to the autumn. Duxbury (10-1) opened its season with a grueling 28-18 defeat by the hands of Hanover on Sept. 7. Since then, Duxbury opted to trip with a two-quarterback system, with Finn Carley (335 yards passing, three touchdowns) and Trevor Jones (1,229 yards, 18 touchdowns) every taking snaps underneath heart.
Meanwhile, senior Alex Barlow has emerged as one of many state’s premier operating backs (1,245 yards dashing, 17 touchdowns).
Scituate (9-3) bought off to a sluggish 2-3 opening. Since a 42-28 loss to Hanover on Oct. 6, the Sailors have received seven straight, averaging 29.71 factors per contest throughout their latest streak. Senior quarterback Jackson Belsan has been the catalyst, finishing 154-of-244 passes for two,424 yards and 27 touchdowns. His main goal is Lawson Foley, who has hauled in 45 receptions for 835 yards and 10 scores.
At the second, Scituate could be rolling alongside. The Sailors, alternatively, have taken on an underdog mentality.
“We love being under the radar and nobody giving us a chance,” laughed Scituate coach Herb Devine. “Nobody pondering we may get to this recreation, no person pondering we may beat Holliston. Nobody thought we may beat Grafton, with their large offensive line, our little guys going on the market and competing with them.
“Obviously, this is just another week of people telling our kids that they don’t match up against Duxbury’s offensive line, and Barlow – our kids love that stuff.”

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME HISTORY
Duxbury is showing in its eleventh championship recreation. The Dragons are 6-4, together with a 42-7 win over Grafton in final 12 months’s Div. 4 championship recreation. Matt Festa threw for 250 yards and two scores, whereas dashing for 4 extra scores. Chris Walsh caught 5 passes for 145 yards and a landing.
Scituate is 2-1 in three prior championships. The Sailors’ final journey to the finals was a memorable one as they defeated Duxbury 14-13 to win the Div. 4 title. Andrew Bossey’s 10-yard TD run with 27 seconds left set the stage for Keegan Sullivan’s game-winning two-point conversion run.
