Pune: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) thrashed Mumbai Indians by seven wickets in an Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Saturday on Anuj Rawat’s sensible knock of 66 after a brilliant performance by the bowlers. This is Mumbai’s fourth consecutive loss in four matches while RCB’s third success in four matches.
Suryakumar Yadav’s unbeaten 68 off 37 balls helped Mumbai Indians score 151 for six but RCB chased down the target in 18.3 overs at the loss of three wickets. Anuj hit two fours and six sixes in his 47-ball innings. He shared a brilliant 50 for the first wicket with captain Faf du Plessis (16) and 80 runs for the second wicket with Virat Kohli. Kohli scored 48 runs in his 36-ball innings with the help of five fours.
RCB started chasing cautiously and the team made just 30 for no loss in the power play with Anuj Rawat hitting two consecutive sixes in the second over against debutant Jaydev Unadkat for Mumbai. In the seventh over, Anuj Rawat hit a six against Murugan Ashwin and Du Plessis scored 15 runs from the over. Du Plessis took a run in the last ball of the eighth over and shared a 50-run partnership with Rawat but was caught by Suryakumar in the next over as he tried to hit a big shot off Unadkat.

Kohli welcomed Basil Thampi, who maiden the first over after opening his hand against Pollard, with a four in the 12th over, while Rawat eased the pressure with a six and a four off the last two balls. Rawat completed his half-century in the 14th over by taking one run against Bumrah. He then hit sixes against Pollard in the 16th and against Unadkat in the 17th over to reduce the required run-rate.
