Nets head coach Jacque Vaughn says he’s the explanation his staff got here out flat of their 43-point loss to the Boston Celtics on Wednesday.
Vaughn fell on the sword and took accountability for one of many worst performances the staff has had since he changed Steve Nash as head coach eight video games into the season.
The Nets entered the second quarter down 30, one level shy of their widest margin trailing on the finish of a gap interval.
“I told the group I’m disappointed in the fact that I did not have them ready to play,” Vaughn stated after the sport. “46-16. We’ve been a bunch who’s just about been targeted and able to play.
“I’m all the time gonna maintain myself to the usual that I need to maintain them to. So 46-16 from the primary quarter, I take the blame of all of it, of not having them detailed to the sport plan, the self-discipline that it takes to get hit on the street and reply, so a little bit little bit of every thing.
“I’ve gotta do my part.”
Vaughn stated the Nets weren’t as bodily as they wanted to be to beat an outsized Boston Celtics staff. He stated the proof was within the pudding when he put each facilities Nic Claxton and Day’Ron Sharpe on the court docket collectively — one thing he by no means does — to fight Boston’s duo of Robert Williams and Al Horford.
“We had two fouls in the first quarter, and we talked about that. That’s the physicality piece that we didn’t bring to the table tonight, and that was shown in the fouls,” Vaughn stated postgame. “Overall, if you look at how we were moving, the energy and effort that we needed to beat this team, we were lacking that from the beginning of the game.”
