England won the toss and decided to bat first. But not a single English player could stand in front of the Indian bowlers. Medium fast bowlers Raj Bawa and Ravi Kumar bowled brilliantly, bowling the England team out for 189. Bawa took five for 31 in 9.5 overs while left-arm pacer Ravi Kumar took four for 34. - First match: India started their campaign against South Africa. Batting first, India scored 232 runs with the help of Dhul’s brilliant 82. In reply, South Africa suffered some early setbacks and were restricted to 187 runs. India won this match by 45 runs.
- Second match: In the match against Ireland, India scored 307 runs with the help of crucial innings from Harnoor Singh and Angreesh Raghuvanshi as both hit half-centuries. In reply, Ireland were reduced to just 133 runs and India won by a huge margin of 174 runs.
- Third match: India was clashing against Uganda and Raj Bawa played a record breaking innings of 162 runs. He broke Shikhar Dhawan’s record for the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in the Under 19 World Cup. As a result, the Indian team made a mammoth score of 405 runs. Chasing the target, Uganda’s team got out for just 79 runs. India won this match by a record margin of 326 runs.
- Quarter Finals: India won the toss and decided to bowl first for Bangladesh. Ravi Kumar’s brilliant three-wicket haul made Bangladesh struggle. They were reduced to just 111 runs. Chasing the target in just 30.5 overs, the Indian team got an easy victory and defeated Bangladesh by 5 wickets.
- Semifinals: Batting first, in this match played against Australia, India scored 290 for five wickets. At the same time, chasing the runs, Australia’s team was piled up on 194. India reached the final with a big win by 96 runs. In this match, captain Yash Dhul scored 110 runs.
