Bangladesh won the third and final match of the 3-match ODI series by 9 wickets in the tour of South Africa (SA vs BAN ODI Series, 2022) and defeated South Africa in the One Day International series for the first time in the history of ODI cricket. By winning 2-1 in this ODI series, Bangladesh won the bilateral series for the first time in South Africa and made a new record. Talking about the third and final ODI match of the series, Bangladesh defeated South Africa (SA vs BAN ODI Series, 2022) for 154 runs and defeated the target in 26.3 overs at the loss of one wicket. Team captain Tamim Iqbal scored an unbeaten 87 for Bangladesh. Earlier, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed took 5 wickets for 35 runs. Team opener Jaaneman Malan scored the highest 39 runs for South Africa.
In this match, Tamim Iqbal and Litton Das added 127 runs for the first wicket for Bangladesh. Significantly, Bangladesh had defeated South Africa by 38 runs in the first match played at the same ground. After the loss in this series, South Africa’s efforts to enter the ICC ODI World Cup, 2023, also suffered a major setback. Actually, South Africa has now slipped to number 9 in the points table of the ICC World Super Series.
