In the ICC U-19 World Cup 2022, England captain Tom Preet’s unbeaten 154 helped his team beat the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by a huge margin of 189 runs. And, with this fresh win, England’s team made its place in the ICC U-19 World Cup Super League Quarter Final. England team captain Tom Prest, maintaining his scintillating form, scored 154 runs off 119 balls.
In this brilliant innings, 13 fours and four sixes also came off his bat. Apart from Prest, Jacob Bethel scored 62, William Luxton scored 47 and George Thomas scored 41 runs. Due to the superb batting of these players, England, batting first, scored a mammoth score of 362 runs for the loss of 6 wickets and gave UAE a target of 363 to win.
After this, the bowlers of the England team did a fatal bowling in the UAE’s batting innings and the entire UAE team was bundled out for 173 runs in 38.2 overs with 70 balls to spare. For UAE, the number seven batsman Ali Nasir scored the highest 54 runs from his team Kintarf. In another match, Pakistan defeated Afghanistan by 24 runs to reach the quarter-finals of the ICC U-19 World Cup Super League.
In this match of Group-C of ICC U-19 World Cup, 2022, Afghanistan stopped Pakistan on a score of 239 runs (AFG vs PAK U-19 World Cup). But, chasing the target, Afghanistan’s team could score only 215 runs losing 9 wickets in 50 overs. For Afghanistan, Bilal Saeedi scored 42 runs, Nangelia Kharote 12 and Allah Noor 28 scored among the top-order batsmen. He wasted many deliveries and played a very slow innings. This was the reason why Afghanistan team lost.
Ajaz Ahmed Ahmedzai made 39 and Noor Ahmed made 3 sixes and 29 runs in 18 balls, but the team was defeated. (Aavesh Ali) showed the way to the pavilion for 3 Afghanistan players for 36 runs.
It is worth noting that while batting first in this match, Abdul Fasih of Pakistan team scored the highest 68 runs. Mohammad Shehzad scored 43, Maj Sadaqat 42 (not out) and team captain Kasim Akram (Pakistan U-19 Team World Cup, 2022) scored 38 not out.
