The Sox received manufacturing all through the lineup, ending with 14 hits. Four of the highest 5 gamers within the batting order — Tim Anderson, Luis Robert Jr., Andrew Benintendi and Andrew Vaughn — had two hits. So did the Nos. 7 and eight hitters, Yasmani Grandal and Oscar Colás.

“The most important thing for me is that we ran the bases really well, we shrunk the strike zone. We put the ball in play, we had six walks. We left the (at-bat) for the next guy. We took our walks. Leave it for the next guy. This lineup is deep and part of the advantages of having a deep lineup is you know what take your walks and leave it for the next guy and that’s what we did.”
Clevinger didn’t thoughts ready by a protracted high of the third to get again on the mound.
“(Benintendi) was talking about, ‘Man you had to wait a while,’ ” Clevinger stated. “I was like, ‘Make me wait as long as possible.’”

Said Grifol of Clevinger: “He pounds the strike zone. He loves to compete. He goes right at these guys.”
Kelly relieved Clevinger, coming into with a runner on second and one out within the sixth and the Sox holding a 6-4 lead. Kelly induced a groundout and strikeout to protect the two-run benefit.
“Kelly came in in a tough situation and he did what Kelly does,” Grifol stated. “Kelly has the power to sluggish it down, and he’s received nice stuff so as to add to that. He’s actually good at that.
“That was a big inning. He shut the door and gave us the chance to come back on the offensive side and put some runs on the board.”
The Sox had 5 consecutive hits through the five-run seventh to place the sport out of attain. Aaron Bummer, Kendall Graveman and Reynaldo López mixed to permit one run on two hits within the last three innings, hanging out 4.
