Mumbai: Off-spinner Washington Sundar has not been included in the Indian team for the three-match ODI series against South Africa due to Corona infection, Jayant Yadav has been included in his place. Fast bowler Navdeep Saipy has also been kept as a replacement for Mohammad Siraj. Siraj is recovering from a hamstring injury.
“Team India off-spinner Washington Sundar has not been selected for the upcoming one-day series against South Africa due to being found corona positive,” the BCCI said in a statement. “Sunder was scheduled to travel to Cape Town on Wednesday along with the rest of the one-day team members to join the rest of the team for the one-day series starting January 19,” it said.

A five-member selection committee headed by former fast bowler Chetan Sharma picked Jayant in place of Sundar. Siraj has been battling a hamstring injury he suffered during the second Test against South Africa in Johannesburg. The first match of the ODI series will be played on 19 January in Paarl, second on 21 January in Paarl itself and third in Cape Town.
