Citing what he termed “parental harassment, Cardinal Spellman soccer coach Kahn Chace stepped down from his place this morning.
Chace made the choice following final night time’s 34-3 loss to undefeated Bishop Fenwick which dropped the Crusaders to 2-3 on the season. According to eyewitness accounts, Chace was subjected to verbal abuse throughout and after the sport.
“I’ve coached football for 19 years,” Chace stated. “All I’ve ever wanted to be was a head coach close to home. I know this will affect my future, but it’s the best for my family and my mental health.”
Chace took over for the legendary Ron St. George’s after two seasons at Tri-County. The Cardinals went 3-8 in his first season, the spotlight being a shocking extra time victory over St. Mary’s. Following the win, Chace was named the New England Patriots High School Coach of the Week.
Cardinal Spellman opened this 12 months with a 12-0 win over Nantucket, earlier than dropping to Hull (27-6) and Bishop Stang (36-20). The Crusaders rebounded with a 17-6 win over Cathedral/Matignon main as much as the Bishop Fenwick setback.
“The administration has been great to me,” Chace stated. “This wasn’t a one day thing either. It was 100 percent parental harassment and disrespect.”
Attempts to succeed in Cardinal Spellman athletic director Mike Gerrish for remark have been unsuccessful, although in a textual content message, he stated he would return the decision later.
