    Boston Unity wins expansion spot in Professional Women’s Soccer League

    It’s official, town will host an growth crew within the National Women’s Soccer League, as a result of kick off within the 2026 season.

    The Hubs crew will take the pitch at White Stadium within the metropolis’s Franklin Park, in keeping with an announcement from the league Tuesday.

    The Boston Unity Soccer Partners received the growth bid to grow to be the league’s fifteenth crew.

    “I’m excited to expand the NWSL’s footprint and continue its transformative growth in our return to Boston, one of the world’s most iconic sports cities,” stated NWSL Commissioner Jessica Berman in a press release saying the franchise. “We are very proud to welcome Boston Unity Soccer Partners to our ownership group. They bring an impressive roster of business leaders committed to continuing Boston’s legacy of sports excellence and delivering a successful team to a very passionate fanbase. We are thrilled for their entry to the league in the 2026 season and add a new chapter to the storied history of Boston sports.”

    Boston Mayor Michelle Wu has scheduled a 2 p.m. press convention at metropolis corridor with the NWSL to announce the brand new crew.

    The crew is because of play at White Stadium in Franklin Park. City officers toured the power in June after the BUSP submitted the one response to a request for proposals on the web site which stays in want of a $30 million overhaul. Upgrade prices on the stadium can be cut up between town and the crew, in keeping with the plans specified by June.

    The crew plans to remodel White Stadium “into a top-tier facility,” in keeping with Tuesday’s announcement and is working with town to cater modifications to each the wants of NWSL play and surrounding college students.

    Mayor Wu stated Boston Unity would take it’s place among the many metropolis’s roster of champions.

    “Boston sets the standard for athletic excellence and fans’ devotion to our teams. It’s fitting and absolutely thrilling for Boston to be a home for women’s soccer, hosting a franchise that will partner so closely with our community and especially our schools,” Wu stated in a press release. “I look forward to the revitalization of White Stadium and the partnership of this team and league to create new opportunities in Franklin Park and for our student-athletes citywide.”
