IPL 2022 Mega Auction is being held on 12th and 13th of next month in Bengaluru. This time around, there will be a total of 1,214 players in the IPL auction, out of which 896 are Indian players and 318 are foreigners. It is worth noting that out of those 318 foreign players, one is from Bhutan. For the first time, a player from Bhutan has registered his name for ‘IPL MEGA AUCTION’. The name of this player from Bhutan is Mikyo Dorji.
It is worth noting that 22-year-old Mikyo Dorji became the first Bhutanese cricketer in 2021, who went out of his country Bhutan and played ‘Franchise League Cricket’. He participated in Nepal’s ‘Everest Premier League 2021’, in which Nikyo Dorji was seen playing for ‘Lalitpur Patriots’ team.
This player from Bhutan has met Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MS Dhoni), the great captain of the Indian cricket team and the captain of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL. Sharing a photo with MS Dhoni on his official Instagram account, he wrote that, he will never forget the advice that Mahi (MS Dhoni) has given to him. They will always follow that advice of Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
There is little hope of bidding in Mega Auction
In IPL Mega Auction, 2022, Nikyo Dorji may not find any buyer, but by registering his name for the auction, he has definitely registered Bhutan’s name in IPL history. In his conversation with a news agency, Nikyo Dorji said, “After registering your name in IPL MEGA AUCTION, 2022, the second step is to shortlist the players. Though my name is less likely to appear in the final list, but my name in the registration is an important thing for my country Bhutan.
Significantly, 22-year-old Nikyo Dorji is a fast bowler-all-rounder. The history of international cricket tells that he made his debut against Malaysia (Malaysia vs Bhutan) in 2018 about 4 years ago. He has played 1 T20 International match in his international career so far. In which he played an innings of 27 runs.
