Ashneer Grover takes a dig at BookMyShow
On August 1st, Ashneer Grover took to Twitter to counsel that tickets for the upcoming cricket World Cup might have been auctioned off to the best bidders. He identified that this method might have considerably elevated income for key stakeholders just like the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the International Cricket Council (ICC), and BookMyShow. Additionally, he shared a screenshot from the app indicating that the tickets had been already bought out.
Taking to X (previously Twitter), Ashneer stated, “Eventually hona wahi hai – sabse zyaada daam dene vaale ke haath hi ticket aani hai ! Fark sirf itna hai ki ab cash premium pe aayegi. (This is what eventually happens. The one who pays the highest price, gets the ticket. The only difference is that it would be sold for cash premium now).”
Before this incident, it was reported that on August 29, tickets for the World Cup pre-sale on BookMyShow’s web site and app had been shortly snapped up, leaving quite a few cricket fand feeling let down.
