Ahmedabad, All-rounder Deepak Hooda said that his childhood dream came true after receiving the India cap from Virat Kohli during the first ODI against West Indies. Hooda’s dream was always to play for India and get the debut cap from either MS Dhoni or Kohli.
Talking to Suryakumar Yadav on ‘BCCI TV’ after the 44-run win over West Indies in the second ODI, he said, “I made my debut for India in the first ODI. It was a wonderful feeling. It is a huge honor to be a part of this team.”

He said, “Even before when I came in the team, Virat Bhai was not there. Growing up, I saw him become a legend. Mahi bhai was already a legend. My childhood dream was to get the India cap from either of these two. It was great getting the cap from Kohli.” Hooda was selected in India’s T20 squad in 2017 but did not get a chance to play.
Asked what was his motivation for getting a place in the national team, he said, “I focused on the process without deviate from the target. Good things take time but you have to be prepared.” He said that he wants to learn a lot from coach Rahul Dravid, captain Rohit Sharma and Kohli.
He said, “The feeling of being in the dressing room with Dravid, Rohit and Kohli is different. There is much to learn from them. That’s what I’m trying to do.” (agency)
