Navi Mumbai, Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant said after his consecutive defeat in the Indian Premier League (IPL 15) that his team needs to solve the problem of ‘pattern’ of losing wickets at the earliest and the middle overs. I need to play less ‘dot’ ball. Delhi team started the IPL season (IPL 15) by registering a win over strong Mumbai Indians but then again suffered losses to Gujarat Titans and Lucknow Supergiants.
Pant said, “As a batting unit, we have to find ways to improve ourselves. In the last two-three matches, we are seeing a ‘pattern’, we have to work on the fact that we don’t lose wickets consistently and play less ‘dot’ balls in the middle overs. “If we work on these things as we move forward in the tournament, we can do well,” he said at a press conference after their six-wicket loss to Lucknow Super Giants on Thursday.

Pant (Rishabh Pant) said, “Mitchell Marsh was supposed to feature in the playing XI but due to international commitments and injury (he suffered during training in Pakistan for Australia’s white-ball series) he could not come. We are definitely missing him. “Like in the first two matches, we lost two-three wickets together, which happened in two-three consecutive overs, which created pressure,” he said.
Pant said, “But Sarfaraz and I tried to build a partnership and in the last match Avesh Khan and Jason Holder bowled really well in two-three overs in the end. Pant was criticized for giving just two overs to spinner Axar Patel in the match against Lucknow Super Giants but the Delhi Capitals captain defended the decision.
“Akshar was not given the bowling because two left-handers were playing on the pitch and out of which Quinton de Kock got stuck at the crease who kept on batting till the end,” he said. “By the time de Kock got out (in the 16th over), it was too late to bowl to Axar,” he said. (agency)
