Sri Lankan captain Dunith Vellallage scored 34 runs in 61 balls and it looked like he would take the team to victory but it did not happen.
Coolidge (Antigua), Afghanistan beat Sri Lanka by four runs to make it to the semi-finals of the Under-19 World Cup where they will face England. After losing the toss, the Afghanistan team sent to bat first got out for 134 runs. After this, however, his bowlers performed brilliantly and wrote the script of victory and got Sri Lanka out for 130 runs in 46 overs.

Kharote also lost his wicket in the next over. Abdul Hadi tried to take the team to a respectable score by scoring 37 runs. Sri Lanka’s Vinjua Rumpul took five wickets for just ten runs. Sri Lanka did not start well and opener Sadisha Rajapaksa was dismissed in the very first over. After that Chevon Daniels was also bowled by Bilal Sami on the score of two.
After the failure of the top and middle order, captain Vellalage and Ravin de Silva put on a good partnership for the eighth wicket to take the score from 43 runs to 112 runs. In such a situation, Kharote took the crucial wicket of Vellalage while Naved dismissed de Silva. Four Sri Lankan batsmen were run out for which they had to bear the brunt. (agency)
