India got the title for the second time
Earlier, Team India had won this title only once in 1983. The captain at that time was Kapil Dev. It was the third World Cup in cricket history. Before that West Indies had won the title twice. At the same time, the title that came in 2011 was the second title for India. Whereas now India is waiting for its third title.
Jayawardene’s century in front of Gambhir faded
In the 2011 ODI World Cup, including captain Dhoni, all-rounder Yuvraj Singh and opener Gautam Gambhir performed brilliantly. In the final, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat, where the team scored 274 for 6 wickets. At that time Mahela Jayawardene scored an unbeaten century of 103 runs. But his century innings did not work in front of Gambhir’s quick innings.
