- The issue of waiving tax for houses up to 500 square feet heats up again
Nashik: Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal has given a big statement. He has said that after meeting the Municipal Commissioner, a decision will be taken on waiving the tax of houses up to 500 square feet. For the last few days, like Mumbai, there is a strong wind in Nashik to waive the tax of houses before the municipal elections. On the other hand, Mayor Satish Kulkarni has also started his activism to take a decision on this.
Nationalist Congress Party’s city president Ranjan Thackeray has written a letter to Guardian Minister Chhagan Bhujbal demanding waiver of tax on houses up to 500 square feet in the limits of Nashik Municipal Corporation on the lines of Mumbai Municipal Corporation. There are 4 lakh 55 thousand properties in the Nashik Municipal Corporation area. Most of them live in the middle class. The condition of the middle class in Corona had become very bad. To give relief to such poor and middle class citizens, a demand has been made to waive the tax of these flats. On this Chhagan Bhujbal said that I will have a positive discussion on this subject with the Municipal Commissioner Kailash Jadhav.

Every party’s bet before the election
It is believed that in view of the municipal elections to be held in the month of March, along with the BJP, the leaders of other parties have also started trying to address this issue. On one hand, BJP leaders, especially Mayor Satish Kulkarni, are seen to be active on this issue, while on the other hand the nationalists have also started running to take credit for it.
The opinion of the Municipal Commissioner is important
This issue is not political but administrative. In this, the consent and opinion of the Municipal Commissioner is very important. Property tax is the main source of income for the Municipal Corporation. With this money, development works are done in the city. If there is a decrease in this, then the development work in the municipal area can be affected. The number of flats up to 500 square feet is quite high. If the tax on such a large number of flats is waived, then the health of the Municipal Corporation will definitely be affected.
