- 15,600 students are waiting

Nagpur. According to the order of the government, all the schools in the district have opened from December 1. The schools of the Zilla Parishad have also started. The schools have opened but the uniforms have not been distributed to the students so far this year. Under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan by the government, uniforms are distributed to the students of SC, ST and BPL categories. Distribution has started in some schools, but the announcement made to provide uniform to OBC and open class children from the cess fund of the Zilla Parishad has not been given yet.
The children reaching the school are eagerly waiting to get the new uniform. The children of SC, ST and BPL categories are given a new uniform by the government in every academic session, but there is no provision of uniform for the children of OBC and open category. Shivkumar Yadav, a former member of the Zilla Parishad, had first demanded funds from the DPC fund to give uniforms to these children as well, but the hearing did not take place. After that the officials made a provision to give uniforms to these children from the cess fund of the zip. Provision of funds was also made but this year more than 15,600 such children have not been given uniforms.
empty vault
During the Corona period, the Zilla Parishad has not even received the share of stamp duty by the government. ZP’s vault is empty for the last two years. Even though the budget of the Cess Fund has been approved, but there is no fund to implement the provisions made in it, due to which there is a problem. According to the information, the Education Department has received a fund of Rs 1.99 crore from the State Education Council for distribution of uniforms to the students coming under the Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
From this fund, distribution has been started to 66,216 children of Zilla Parishad schools from class I to VIII through a uniform school management committee. Uniform orders have been placed and distribution has also been done to the students of some schools, but the students of OBC and Open category are waiting for their uniform. The planning of giving uniforms to about 16,000 students of these classes this year also seems to be zero, due to which there is no money in the cess fund. It is also becoming difficult to manage office expenses.
Last year’s distribution
Last year, the officer informed about the distribution of uniforms to all the children. He told that this year also uniform will be given to the children of OBC-open category from the cess fund. A provision has been made for this in the budget. This expenditure will be kept for approval in the next general meeting. He also admitted that there is a shortage due to non-availability of funds from the government. Till now funds have not been transferred to the schools by the Zilla Parishad Education Department. Schools have started and uniforms have been distributed to the children of SC, ST and BPL categories. In such a situation, the children of OBC and open category are getting disappointed due to non-availability of uniforms. They are asking when will they get the school dress.
