New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is celebrating his 49th birthday (YS Jagan Mohan Reddy Birthday) today. YS Jaganmohan Reddy is the son of late Congress leader YSR Reddy. In the year 2009, after the death of the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy in a helicopter accident, YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s politics started showing activity amid the political stir in the politics of Andhra Pradesh. He formed his party in 2011 amid differences with the national leadership of the Congress.
The YSR Congress Party, led by Jaganmohan Reddy, came to power in the state in 2019. In the year 2009, he became an MP from Cuddapah Lok Sabha constituency. YS Jaganmohan Reddy was born on 21 December 1972 in Pulivendula village in Cuddapah district of Andhra Pradesh. YS Jaganmohan Reddy did his schooling at Hyderabad Public School. After this he completed his graduation from Nizam’s College.
As Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly and President of the YSR Congress Party, Reddy undertook his 3,000-km long padyatra called Praja Sankalp Yatra at Idupulapaya in Cuddapah district in November 2017. During this, he visited 125 assembly constituencies across the state in 430 days and ended his journey on 9 January 2019.

In the 2019 national and state elections held in April and May, the YSR Congress Party won the elections and won 151 out of 175 assembly seats and 22 out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Andhra Pradesh. YS took oath as Chief Minister on 30 May 2019. Many important schemes were started in the state during his tenure.
These schemes include welfare schemes like Jagannath Amma Vodi and Navaratnalu. Jagannath Amma Vodi provides financial assistance to below poverty line mothers or guardians to educate their children. Whereas Navratnalu is a collection of nine welfare schemes covering farmers, women, medical and health, education and special category status.
