Lucknow: To attract tourists, new things will be developed and facilities will also increase in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Tourists coming to the Nawabi city of Lucknow will now have the pleasure of visiting the historical places by sitting in the tram. The banks of the Gomti river in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, will be developed on the lines of Sabarmati River Front in Ahmedabad.
According to the state government’s plan, the tram will be operated in the heritage area of Lucknow and will be run only for tourists. In Lucknow, preparations are being made to run it from Hussainabad in old Lucknow to La Martiniere College. In Hussainabad itself, only seven of the famous buildings of Lucknow, Bada and Chhota Imambara, Rumi Gate, Ghantaghar and Satkhanda etc. are located. To make Lucknow attractive for tourists and to take forward the work of Green Corridor project, Lucknow Development Authority has taken several decisions in a high level meeting.

Meeting to expedite the work of Green Corridor
Authority officials have held a meeting with the state’s advisor and former IAS officer Keshav Verma, who developed the Sabarmati Riverfront in Gujarat, to develop the river front and expedite the work on the Green Corridor. In the meeting, discussion was also held on running a tram from Hussainabad area of old Lucknow to La Martiniere College via Hazratganj. It is worth noting that the Lucknow Development Authority has already included the plan to run a tram in its city development plan.

The development authority is going to develop a green corridor on both the banks of the Gomti river from IIM Road to Kisan Path in the capital Lucknow. Earlier the plan of the authority was to build only a four-lane road on the banks of river Gomti, but now many things will be included in this project by making major changes. State Advisor Keshav Verma has suggested adding many new things on the lines of Sabarmati River Front. He says that the construction of Kever Green Corridor will not only benefit, but the public should also be connected with this project. Connecting the Gomti river with the public will also make the city beautiful and help tourists and generate revenue. If there is an attraction of the local people, it will also help in cleaning the river.
Utility park to be built on the banks of the river
In the meeting, it has been suggested to develop the Gomti River Front along with the Green Corridor. According to the plan, roads will be made to descend from the Green Corridor to the river side. Utility parks including pathways, yoga centers will be built on the banks of the river. The authority has also given scope for setting up of pollution free industries in the green corridor. Traditional industries of Lucknow will be given space for this.
