Lucknow: The picture of council schools in Uttar Pradesh has started changing completely. The state’s council schools are now giving competition to the convent schools. From smart classes, libraries, computers to excellent infrastructure, primary schools are a step towards modernization. It is the result of the efforts of Yogi Government that the number of students has increased rapidly. As a result of this, the state has secured a place in Grade-I in the 2019-20 Performance Index (PGI) of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India, whereas before 2017 the condition of primary schools was so bad that parents were able to send their children to their children. did not want to send them to these schools.
To improve the condition of the council schools of UP, the Yogi government has taken many important decisions. In the last four and a half years, the government has strengthened the primary education system in the state. Council schools were revamped in a very short span of time. The State Government has enhanced the basic facilities for the students in more than 1.33 lakh schools. Hundreds of schools have become better than private schools and are competing with convent schools.
All facilities given to children
Like private schools, all kinds of facilities have been provided here for better education of the children. All kinds of facilities are being provided to the students with smart class room, playground, library and better classrooms for the children. After the initiative of Yogi government, the number of students is also increasing rapidly here. In the last four and a half years, parents are enrolling their children in council schools instead of choosing expensive private schools.

Efforts to provide clean and safe environment
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Operation Kayakalp in 2019. Under this, efforts are being made to provide a clean and safe environment with modern environment to 1.64 lakh children studying in 1.33 lakh council schools. Under the scheme, arrangements are being made for beautification of the school, pure drinking water, toilets, furniture etc. About 90 percent of the schools have been saturated with the scheme.
Money sent directly to parents’ account
So far 1,25,987 appointments have been made in the Basic Education Department in the state. At present there are 5.75 lakh teachers in 1.33 lakh council schools, who are providing quality education to the children. In order to keep the education of the children going smoothly, copy-books have been provided to the children on time. Along with school clothes, sweaters and shoes and socks were also provided to the children to avoid the cold. To make this system transparent, this time the government has sent about 1200 rupees directly to the parents’ account.
School Chalo campaign was made a mass movement
It is worth noting that before 2017, many council schools were on the verge of closure. The number of students was continuously decreasing. When the BJP government came in 2017, the “School Chalo Abhiyan” was made a mass movement. As a result of this, 54 lakh new children started attending these schools in four and a half years. There was a time when 75 per cent of the children came barefoot. The Yogi government arranged for shoes and socks for the children. Sweaters were given in the cold, along with two dresses were also arranged.
