Since April 1, 2021, there have been about 513 violent wildlife attacks in the district. In this, 6 people died and 29 people were seriously injured while 488 cattle were eaten by wildlife.
Let us tell you that most of the district is covered with forests. Along with this, there is also information about the increase in the number of predatory wildlife like tigers, leopards, wild boars, bears etc. in the district. Violent animals have also been found entering the border of Wardha district from the border of the outer districts, there has been an increase in the attacks of wildlife in the district for the last few years.
Other national highways including prosperity have gone from the district. A large number of trees were felled for their construction. On the other hand, with increasing urbanization, the encroachment of humans in the forests has increased. Due to these reasons, wildlife is seen adopting its attitude towards the villagekhedo. There is free communication of wildlife, especially in the fields and village premises adjacent to the forest, due to which the villagers are in great panic.
Earlier, wildlife used to wander in search of water, but now due to lack of prey in the forest, these creatures are reaching the villagekhedo, incidents of wildlife attacks are coming to the fore in Karanja, Arvi, Ashti, Selu tehsils of the district, as a result farmers of the area And the agricultural laborers were seen shying away from going to the fields. Since April 2021 till now, 513 attacks have been reported in the district, in which 6 people have died and 29 people have been injured.
2713 cases of crop loss
In the attack of wildlife, there is a huge loss of crops as well as human loss, violent creatures attack the growing crops in large quantities, herds of wild boars destroy standing crops. In the last eleven months, 2 thousand 713 such cases have come to the fore. The Forest Department has information about distributing the help of about 1 crore 27 lakh 27 thousand 612 rupees to the affected farmers.
2.81 crore aid distributed
Assistance funds are provided in case of death, injury and death of cattle in the attack of wildlife. In the last 11 months, the Forest Department has distributed about Rs 2 crore 81 lakh 13 thousand 247 to the victims in 3235 cases in the district. In this, Rs 53 lakh 21 thousand 966 has been given in lieu of compensation for the loss of 488 animals, Rs 25 lakh 63 thousand 669 has been provided to 29 injured, Rs 75 lakh has been provided to 5 dead. In Kannamvargram, the relatives of the deceased have been assured of help as per rules.
