WhatsApp on Thursday launched the ‘Disappearing Message’ feature on its platform. Due to this feature, the messages sent on WhatsApp will automatically disappear after a certain time. There was a discussion of this feature coming on WhatsApp for a long time. Now the company has started providing this feature on the stable version of the app.

WhatsApp says that users will get the facility to send their deleted messages on WhatsApp chat after seven days in this month itself. That is, this feature will come to all users on Android, iOS, KaiOS, Web and desktop versions of the app. WhatsApp does not currently have customizable options for disseminating messages, meaning the user cannot choose by himself how long the message is deleted. WhatsApp has provided only one option ‘7 days’.

Admin will be able to administer in group chat

The company said in a statement that the company is feeling very excited to introduce the Disappearing Message feature on WhatsApp. Whenever customers enable this feature, then after seven days, the message will automatically disappear from the chat. This will help to make chatting more private. WhatsApp said that during chat with any one person, either of them can turn on this feature, while in group chat, this control will be with the administrator.

The company said that we are starting the facility of disappearing messages in seven days so that chats do not have the burden of perpetuation. If you have sent the address of a shop or shopping list, then it will remain in your chat for a few days and disappear later.

    How to activate the feature

    • Go to chat with a contact by opening WhatsApp on Android or iOS.
    • After this, we have to go to the ‘Disappearing messages’ setting.
    • Enable the setting and click on Continue and Select On.
    • If you want to disable the Disappearing Messages feature then go to this setting and select Select off.

There is already a feature on Instagram

Prior to WhatsApp, Facebook has introduced a similar feature on its Instagram platform. The facility of sending disappearing messages is available on Instagram only once. WhatsApp said that the company has introduced this feature to make the experience of being as close as possible during conversation in chat.
