Weather Forecast: The North-Western parts of India have been in the grip of severe heat and heat for the last few days. The states where the heat wave is increasing continuously since March include Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh. At present, the wrath of heat is being felt in relatively cold states like Kashmir and Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department had issued an orange alert for Delhi on Monday itself.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the heat will increase further in the next few days. An official said that severe heat wave conditions will prevail this week and the maximum temperature is likely to hover around 45 degrees Celsius in many states.
Most parts of India always experience extreme heat mainly in April, May and June. Before the monsoon rains the temperature remains down. But this year, the heat has come much earlier and has intensified in many states this time.
Heat increased in many states this year
Vimal Mishra, an expert in the Indian Institute of Technology’s Water and Climate Lab, told AFP news agency that the number of Indian states hit by the heat has increased in recent years. There is a continuous increase in the temperature. Mishra said that if you want to see clear signs of climate change in India, then heat waves are a recent example.

A UN panel has warned that heat waves will intensify in South Asia. Scientists who study climate change say that Indians can expect similar warm temperatures in the coming years. The outbreak of heat is very dangerous for the daily wage workers, rickshaw pullers, street vendors and the homeless. Many people have to work outside in hot conditions.
Maximum temperature can reach up to 45 degree Celsius
IMD has said that severe heat conditions will be much more in April as compared to March. Heat wave conditions are expected to continue in some parts till April 15. The Meteorological Department has said in a statement that the temperature in Rajasthan will reach 42 degree Celsius in the coming days. At the same time, the temperature in Madhya Pradesh may remain close to 45 degree Celsius.
Apart from this, the temperature of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand will remain above 40 degree Celsius in the coming days. In the last 122 years, the month of March this year was the hottest in India. In the plains, severe heat is declared when the temperature exceeds 40 °C and the minimum temperature is 4.5 °C above normal.
