Aligarh: Rashtriya Lok Dal chief Jayant Chaudhary on Monday criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for his frequent use of “caste-based terminology” during his election campaign. Choudhary, who arrived to address a gathering at Malav village near Khair, later told reporters that the Union home minister was “constantly raising caste issues by talking about Jats. This is not fair as it bypasses the main issues of the farmers.”
“We are fighting for farmers and we do not bring caste issues anywhere in our campaign,” he said. Earlier addressing the gathering in Malav, showing an emotional connect with the people of Khair, he said, “I have inherited from my grandfather (former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh) the legacy of advancing the cause of farmers on the basis of village issues. has been found. I will never let you guys down.”

He said that his family’s roots are very strong in Aligarh’s Khair tehsil and the area is often called “Mini Chhaprauli” and it is his second home from the time of his grandfather. Have a very special relationship with him and it showed up during his tour today.
Later speaking to media persons before leaving Aligarh, the RLD chief said, “Some BJP leaders are trying to teach us history that BJP and Jats are together for the last 600 years.” He alleged that such statements reflect a flawed reading of BJP’s history.
Recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, in his meeting with a group of Jat representatives, had said that the Jat and the BJP share the legacy of fighting against the Mughals. (agency)
