Mumbai: After the end of the tenure of the corporators in the Mumbai Municipal Corporation, questions were being raised as to how the BMC would deal with the complaints of the people. The state government has appointed BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Chahal as BMC Administrator. BMC will now use Ward War Room for hearing public grievances.
A separate Ward War Room was set up in all 24 wards of Mumbai during the time of COVID crisis, where information was obtained about providing beds to COVID patients in hospitals, health of home quarantine patients twice a day. Now the same ward room will be used for redressal of public grievances coming to BMC.

Complaints can be made about everyday problems
BMC Additional Commissioner Suresh Kakani said that we have the facility in each ward since the time of Corona. Ward War Room with all facilities phone separate phone number is also available. The public is also aware of this. Complaints about everyday problems like roads, water, garbage etc. can be made here. The warroom did not have much work left after the infection of COVID reduced, so it will be used for complaints.
Complaints will be settled twice a day
Kakani said that the Assistant Commissioner has been directed to review the complaints twice a day and try to resolve them. All types of complaints related to BMC can be given online, over phone or in writing or by direct meeting here. Which will be resolved by the Assistant Commissioner.
Additional commissioner will visit
Like COVID, the Additional Commissioner will keep an eye on the complaints coming in the ward room. The complaints coming in the war room are being disposed of properly or any laxity is being done, all will be in our notice. We will also keep visiting there and get information about it.
BMC will constitute a committee of officers
A senior BMC official said that the proposals to be brought to the Standing Committee were passed after discussion. Now the same officer of the Standing Committee has come to the BMC Administrator. According to sources, the BMC will constitute a committee of officials where it will scrutinize the proposal sent by the administration. If changes are required in the proposal, it will suggest changes. After that the final proposal will be sent to the administrator for approval. However, how many and which officers will be in the committee has not been decided yet.
