Nashik: Citizens living in inaccessible areas of Nashik district got corona vaccine, so vans of two voluntary organizations (NGOs) have been sent. This Vaccine on Wheel initiative is getting good response in the district. So far, 20 thousand citizens above the age of 18 have been vaccinated under this initiative. To get protection from Corona, it is necessary for every eligible person to take a preventive vaccine. Vaccination is being done at immunization centers at city and tehsil level. But the district administration and health machinery had a tough challenge to vaccinate the citizens of tribal and non-tribal tehsils. Deciding to help, a voluntary organization called Swadesh Foundation started the ‘Vaccine on Wheel’ initiative.
Under this, vaccination is being done from 6 vans of the organization in the inaccessible areas of Peth, Surgana, Trimbakeshwar and Igatpuri tehsils. A voluntary organization called Jeevika Foundation has also provided 6 vans for the ‘Vaccine on Wheels’ initiative. So far 20 thousand citizens have been vaccinated through 12 vans. This information has been given by Ganesh Misal, the nodal officer for vaccination.

Vaccination is being done through the vans of these voluntary organizations in Niphad, Sinnar, Yewala, Malegaon, Baglan tehsils including Nashik city. Each vaccination van has been given a target of 200 vaccinations per day. On an average 185 citizens are being vaccinated every day.

The Swadesh Foundation of Ronnie Screwvala and Zarina Screwvala has provided ‘Vaccine on Wheel’ service in Peth, Surgana, Igatpuri and Trimbakeshwar tehsils. In these 4 tehsils, this initiative is getting full response. The van is provided with a driver, computer operator and a hostess, attendant for administering the vaccine. Vaccination is being done by reaching the houses of citizens. Health machinery is also doing public awareness at the tehsil level. The enthusiasm has increased due to good response even in inaccessible tehsil like Surgana.
