Nashik: After the fear of the third wave coming in the form of Omicron, vaccination has started accelerating in the city. Citizens are seen getting scared while vaccinating. So far, the number of citizens taking the second dose has reached 57%. On an average 10,000 people have been vaccinated daily in the last eight days and still there are one lakh 30 thousand 411 people who have not received the second dose even after taking the first dose for 84 days. After the first and second wave of Corona, the administration has started vigorous preparations for the third wave.
In the first wave, 76 thousand people in the city were affected by Corona. More than a thousand civilians were killed. The second wave affected more than 1.5 million people, while more than 3000 people died. Four thousand eleven civilians have been killed in the city so far. The vaccination campaign has started in the Metropolitan Municipality area from January 26.

Crowd of people at vaccination centers since morning
Initially vaccination campaign was started for corona warriors, health workers, government employees. After that, it was decided to vaccinate all people under the age of 18 from May 1, but the decision was changed due to non-availability of vaccine doses. It was decided to vaccinate only persons above the age of 45 years. Meanwhile, citizens were crowding the centers since morning. After that, citizens turned their backs on vaccination due to the availability of large quantities of vaccines. There has been a spurt in vaccination due to the fear of increasing cases of Omicron after Corona. Now the vaccination centers are getting crowded.
Negligence for the second dose
The Municipal Corporation had set a target of immunization of 13 lakh 63 thousand 700 citizens above the age of 18 years. Out of which 12 lakh 4 thousand 993 citizens have taken the first dose of the vaccine in the last 11 months. One lakh thirty thousand 411 citizens of the city have taken the first dose and after 84 days are showing negligence in getting vaccinated. The proportion of citizens taking the first dose is 88%, while the percentage of citizens taking the second dose has reached 57%.
