Pimpri: Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation is always ready to provide various facilities and best services to the citizens of the city. The demand for drinking water is increasing day by day in Pimpri-Chinchwad city and the availability of pure water throughout the year is decreasing day by day. Drinking water should be used sparingly as the availability of this natural resource is decreasing. Also, the treated or processed water should be used for purposes other than drinking, this appeal has been made by Municipal Commissioner Rajesh Patil.
He said that apart from drinking water, the demand for water is also increasing for construction, horticulture, road cleaning, industrial area, advancement etc. While the demand for water is increasing on the one hand, on the other hand the problem of dirty water is being created due to urbanization. The Municipal Corporation collects waste water from households and public places and after filtering at the sewage treatment plant, discharges it into the river. Keeping in view the increasing demand for water and the problems caused by sewage, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation intends to filter and reuse the waste water.

Will help in reducing river pollution
It is becoming possible to develop the principle of “water”, one of the five principles of nature, by reusing the processed water under ‘Meri Vasundhara Abhiyan 20’ and ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’. Reusing water will also reduce wastewater generation which will help in reducing the pollution of the river.
Drinking water will be saved
Recycling of filter water for other needs other than drinking water will save drinking water and provide equal capacity of drinking water to the citizens. In addition, the cost of water purification will also be reduced. The processed water can be easily reused for RMC plant, construction, horticulture, flushing, road cleaning, washing center, fire fighting, industrialization, agriculture etc. This will solve the water problem of the city to some extent. Commissioner Rajesh Patil also said that for groundwater conservation, maximum use of groundwater should be made for domestic and private building construction, gardens, industrial factories and other works.
