Lucknow.Under the third phase of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, an average of 8.15 percent voting was recorded till 9 am on Sunday for 59 assembly seats in 16 districts of the state. According to the information received from the Election Commission, in the third phase till 9 am, the average voter turnout was 8.15 percent.
In the third phase, 627 candidates are in the fray in 59 assembly constituencies in 16 districts of the state, out of which 97 are women candidates. According to information received from the Election Commission office, following the COVID protocol, voting started at 7 am on Sunday, which will continue till 6 pm.

Polling is going on peacefully and no untoward incident has been reported from anywhere. According to the information received from the commission, in the third phase till 9 am in the state Hathras (7.62), Firozabad (9.85), Kasganj (9.53), Etah (10.16), Mainpuri (11.02), Farrukhabad (5.88), Kannauj ( 10.11), Etawah (6.83), Auraiya (7.74), Kanpur Dehat (6.18), Kanpur Nagar (5.66), Jalaun (9.53), Jhansi (7.69), Lalitpur (9.36), Hamirpur (9.58), and Mahoba eight percent Average turnout till The election campaign in these districts had ended on Friday evening. In the third phase, two crore 16 lakh voters will be able to exercise their franchise. These include more than one crore 16 lakh male voters, more than 99 lakh female voters and more than one thousand third gender voters.
According to the commission, a total of 25,794 polling places and 15,557 polling stations have been set up in the third phase of elections and in view of COVID-19, the Election Commission of India has given instructions to keep the maximum number of voters up to 1,250 at each polling place. The third phase also includes Karhal assembly seat in Mainpuri district, where Union Minister Professor SP Singh Baghel from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and chief opposition Samajwadi Party (SP) president and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav are in a face-off.
Akhilesh is trying his luck in the assembly elections for the first time from Karhal area of Mainpuri district. In the year 2017, even in the BJP wave, SP’s Sobran Singh Yadav had retained his victory in this seat. Akhilesh’s uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav is contesting from his traditional Jaswantnagar seat.
