UP Elections 2022: News agency ANI quoted sources as saying that Akhilesh Yadav, former Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and chief of Samajwadi Party, will contest the UP assembly elections in 2022. After CM Yogi Adityanath’s fielding from Gorakhpur, now there is news of Samajwadi Party supremo also contesting the assembly elections. Let us inform that in November last year, Akhilesh Yadav, MP from Azamgarh in UP had said that he would not contest the elections.
Akhilesh Yadav is an MP from Azamgarh MP seat in eastern UP and has never contested the state assembly elections before. Some reports claimed that he could be fielded from two seats and one of them could be Gopalpur in Azamgarh.
According to insiders, Akhilesh is under constant pressure from the BJP, as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will contest from Gorakhpur. Meanwhile, Mulayam Singh’s daughter-in-law Aparna Yadav joining BJP is another pressure point on the Samajwadi Party, which apparently changed its mind to Akhilesh.
Sources said that the pressure on the SP chief has increased after Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that he will contest the assembly elections for the first time. UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya tweeted on Wednesday, “Shri Akhilesh Yadav ji is scared to contest the assembly elections, took so much time to find a safe haven, scared to fight on the land of development, Shri Akhilesh ji, first tell 2012 From where you have done the most development in 2017, you cannot compete with the development of BJP, Mr. Akhilesh ji.
