Therefore, Uttar Pradesh Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR) have scrutinized the election affidavits of 584 candidates who were in the fray in the second phase, which revealed that 260 or 45 percent of the candidates are crorepatis.
It has been told in the report that 96 candidates (16.44%) are those who have assets of five crore rupees or more. There are 90 candidates (15.41%) with assets between Rs 2 crore and Rs 5 crore. Apart from this, there are 147 (25.17%) candidates with assets of 50 lakh to two crore. While there are 155 (26.54%) candidates with 10 lakh to 50 lakh and 96 (16.44%) candidates with assets less than 10 lakh.

The first name in this list is that of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Center and in the state. After this, the Samajwadi Party and the third number are the crorepati candidates of Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party.
According to the ADR report, the role of money power in our elections is evident from the fact that all major political parties give tickets to candidates with money.
Party wise, 52 out of 53 (98 percent) of BJP, 48 out of 52 (92 percent) of SP, 46 out of 55 (84 percent) of BSP, 2 out of 3 (67 percent) of RLD, 31 out of 54 (57 per cent) candidates of Congress and 16 (33 per cent) out of 49 candidates of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are crorepatis. His declared assets are more than one crore rupees.
According to the report, the average assets of the candidates for the second phase of the UP assembly elections is Rs 4.11 crore.
On the other hand, if we talk about party-wise, then the average assets of 52 SP candidates among the main parties is Rs 11.26 crore. The average assets of 53 candidates of BJP is Rs 9.95 crores, 54 of Congress candidates have average assets of Rs 8.20 crores, 3 candidates of RLD have average assets of Rs 6.20 crores, 55 candidates of BSP have average assets of Rs 5.74 crores and 49 candidates of AAP have average assets. The assets are Rs 1.60 crores.
