Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to provide double dose of free ration to more than 15 crore ration card holders. This is the biggest free ration distribution campaign ever in the country. Antyodaya and eligible domestic ration card holders will get the direct benefit of this scheme. This scheme is a big help for the poor, laborers and farmers.
The Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana was started to help the poor, laborers and farmers in the era of Corona Pandemic. Under this, free food is being distributed to the eligible poor and needy across the country including Uttar Pradesh. Earlier this scheme was only till November, which has recently been extended till March next year. At the same time, on November 3, CM Yogi had announced distribution of free ration till Holi on behalf of the state government in Ayodhya.

Now 10 kg ration is being given free every month to the eligible card holders of Uttar Pradesh. Under the scheme, double ration is to be distributed to Antyodaya ration card holders and eligible families. There are about 1,30,07,969 units under Antyodaya Anna Yojana and 13,41,77,983 units of eligible domestic cardholders in the state. Not only this, the UP government is giving free wheat and rice twice a month to the ration card holders. Pulses, edible oil and salt are also being given free of cost from ration shops. He has done a great job of taking the ration distribution campaign to every poor through 80 thousand kotedars.
