new Delhi. Friends, today is the death anniversary of Mangal Pandey. Let us tell you that on this day i.e. 8th April 1857, Mangal Pandey was hanged by the British. Today, even after 165 years of Mangal Pandey’s sacrifice, youth take inspiration from him. He was a brave soldier who played the bugle of the revolt of 1857.
By the way, many heroes had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of India. But in the midst of all this, there was such a person who had blown the trumpet of the freedom revolution in 1857 itself. That is why today whenever there is talk of independence of the country, the name of Mangal Pandey automatically comes on everyone’s tongue.
when was born
Even if it was not Mangal Pandey, he was the first hero who fought against the British. Let us know that Mangal Pandey was born on July 19, 1827 and was martyred on April 8 in the year 1857, while presenting the first challenge to take back the independence of his country in front of the British rule.
Let us tell you that Mangal Pandey had also inspired his companions to fight against the British. But at that time no one had come forward to support Mangal Pandey. Then finally Mangal Pandey single-handedly fought against the British like a wounded lion.
what does history say
According to history, the new infield rifle was introduced for the soldiers in the 1850s. But the cartridges used in it had to be cut through the mouth and loaded into the rifle. At the same time, when the soldiers of Barrackpore Regiment came to know that the fat of cow and pig was mixed in the cartridges used in these cartridges. After knowing this, the soldiers of both Hindu and Muslim classes expressed their displeasure.
On this matter, Mangal Pandey revolted on 29 March 1857, at that time he was posted in Barrackpore Cantonment of Bengal. He not only flatly refused to use cartridges but also inspired a military rebellion by giving the slogan ‘Maro Firangi Ko’ to fellow soldiers. On the same day, Mangal Pandey also attacked two British officers.
However, he was later prosecuted and he admitted to his rebellion against the British officers. He was sentenced to death and the date was fixed as April 18. But again due to fear of rebellion, Mangal Pandey was hanged 10 days ago i.e. on 8th April itself. But by then Mangal Pandey had awakened the country. This incident was followed by a military mutiny, which led to the rise of the first war of independence, instilling in India the belief that it was possible to defeat the British. India got independence 90 years after this military rebellion.
we will not forget the sacrifice
So friends, you have seen that the coming generations of the country can comfortably breathe in the free air and their future is secure in every respect, so that many such brave youths have sacrificed for the country. But it was only Mangal Pandey who was a revolutionary or to say independence, who lit the torch with the first spark. Yes, this country will never forget the sacrifice of Shaheed Mangal Pandey.
