Pimpri: Professional Kabaddi Team will be announced to promote Kabaddi players in the city through Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. A resolution of this was approved in the General Assembly of the Municipal Corporation. The sports world has welcomed this decision. Mayor Usha Dhore presided over this meeting.
BJP councilor and F division president Kundan Gaikwad has been circling the administration for the last one and a half years to form a professional kabaddi team of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. A similar policy was decided by the sports committee under the guidance of BJP city president and MLA Mahesh Landage. Local quality kabaddi players from Pimpri-Chinchwad have to find a place in the professional team for jobs with foreign companies including Pune and Mumbai. Hence a proposal was made to form a professional team in Pimpri-Chinchwad on the lines of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation to give opportunities to the local players. Sports Committee Chairman Prof. Uttam Kendale and Councilor Kundan Gaikwad moved this proposal, which has been approved.
Announcement of ‘Best Sports Award’
Councilor Kundan Gaikwad said that the talented kabaddi players of the city have to struggle for positions in private companies or other professional teams. Also, national-international players from the city were playing under the name of another city or company. After this decision, the players of the city will play for Pimpri Chinchwad in future. Every Pimpri Chinchwadkar would be proud of it. Kabaddi sector will be promoted in the city and opportunities will be created for the novices. According to the accepted resolution in the general assembly, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will announce the ‘Best Sports Award’ in the near future. Under this, talented sportspersons, disabled players and mentors will be honored for their outstanding achievements in the field of sports. Also, an international player rewards policy will be formulated. A policy will also be made regarding A, B, C category gyms of the Municipal Corporation. A separate professional kabaddi team will be formed exclusively for boys and girls and the power to decide its policy has been entrusted to the Municipal Commissioner.
